Since the Environmental Protection Act came into being in 1990, the automotive refinish industry has become more aware of environmental issues. In response to this awareness, we have put into practice several systems that can be used by our customers.

  • The 'EPA Manager' package. This package, developed by the NIBS Group, contains all the necessary forms and guidance to enable customers to comply with the administrative side of EPA.
  • We keep up to 36 months of data currently on our computer system enabling us to re-create VOC (volatile organic compounds) reports as and when our customers need them.
  • Mitchells also has a technical representative who is able to give realistic advice on good environmental practice. This advice ranges from reducing solvent usage to using the latest spraygun technology
  • Mitchells offers a waste management system, at competitive rates, which covers all bodyshop wastes varying from waste solvent to plastic bumpers, paint waste to tyres etc. This enables its customers to satisfactorily fulfil their 'duty of care'.
  • Keeping in touch with local authorities, has always been important to Mitchells and as a result, have been able to liaise between our customers and them in the past.
  • Having good relationships with the major manufacturers has always been a serious consideration so that we can offer the latest advice and/or products to reduce the effect on the environment.
